Stavrakas Wins ITA Southeast Singles Championship

Box Score FREDERICKSBURG, VA – Adam Stavrakas won ITA Southeast Singles Championship Sunday with a straight sets win in the final. He is the first Blue Jay to win the title since 2022 and sixth all-time. All six titles have come since 2011. Stavrakas earns All-America honors with his win and advances to the ITA Cup in Rome, GA October 15-18.
 
Singles
Stavrakas, the number two seed in the draw, lost a total of just 10 games en route to the championship match. He opened with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Teodor Bortan (HC) and then beat Seth Sadikov (SC) 6-4, 6-2 in the round of 32. For the second time in three matches, he took just 13 games to earn a win, beating Gurv Suri (SU).
 
In the quarterfinals, Stavrakas faced his first seeded opponent – fifth seeded Rishi Verma (SC) and won 6-1, 6-1. He then advanced to the championship match after third-seeded Asher Willenborg (UMW) withdrew. In the championship versus top-seeded Alex Feies (CMU), he won a tight 7-6 (7) first set before taking the title with a 6-1 win in the second.
 
Dylan Blenkiron, seeded fifth, advanced to the round of 16 with a pair of straight set wins. He opened the weekend with a close 6-4, 6-4 win over Jed Platts (VWU). He then won 6-2, 6-3 over Henry Imorde (WLU) to advance. Blenkiron's run ended in the round of 16 with a 6-4, 6-1 loss to ninth-seeded Nikola Galov (SC).
 
Ninth-seeded Chakor Rajendra won his first match 6-2, 6-0 over Demir Isiker (WC) and then fell 6-2, 6-3 to Rainer Christiansen (CNU). Fourth-seeded Allan Xu lost just one game in his first-round win over Lorenzo Neri (CUA). He then dropped a three-setter to Ivan Ceric (CNU) 7-5, 3-6, 1-0 (7). Mukundh Boopathi, seeded ninth, needed just 12 games to beat George King (GC) in the first round. He then lost 6-4, 6-1 to Jayden Yu (CMU) in the round of 32. Daniel Greene dropped a tough three-setter in his first match to ninth-seeded Gilbert Hayes (SC) 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (7).
 
In the Blue 1 draw, Jacob Jiang fell 7-6 (6), 6-1 in the opening round to Petter Storberg (WC). Cyrus Chan lost in three sets to Shaun Fernando (CMU) 3-6, 7-6 (2), 1-0 (1).
 
Doubles
Stavrakas and Blenkiron made a run to the semifinals in the championship draw before dropping a heartbreaker. The pair, seeded second, had a bye in the first round and then won 8-1 over Ian Alonso Munoz and Carlos Lana Crous (FMC). They followed that with a close 8-6 win over ninth-seeded Evan Fiser and Ryan Battaglia (UMW). In the quarterfinals, Stavrakas and Blenkiron won 8-2 over Ian Miller and Aidan Bart. Their run ended with a tough 8-7 (5) loss to Connor Chun and Galov, seeded ninth.
 
The Blue Jays had another three doubles teams advance to the quarterfinals in Austin He/Andy Zhu, Rajendra/Xu and Cole Langer/Boopathi.
 
He and Zhu were seeded ninth in the draw and had a first-round bye. They then won 8-3 over Renat Kramin and Tristan Woe (SIT). The duo won a close 8-7 (3) match over James Smith and Christiansen to move onto the quarterfinals. He and Zhu lost to top-seeded Trevor Rein and Willenborg.
 
Boopathi and Langer were also seeded ninth and had a bye in the first round. They won their first match in a close one, 8-6, over Theodore Gershon and Yu. Boopathi and Langer followed that with an 8-5 win over Matthew Miller and Andrew Kinnear (CNU). They then fell in a close match, 8-7 (8) to eventual champion and ninth seed Matt Scott and William Fromherz (UMW).
 
Rajendra and Allan Xu, seeded fifth in the draw, had a first-round bye and then won 8-4 over Lucio Kombo and Caden Sia (HC). They then grabbed an 8-7 (5) win over Heys Parker and Dutch Prather (WLU). Rajendra and Allan Xu's run ended in the quarterfinals with an 8-3 loss to Galov and Chun. Gabriel Xu and Greene grabbed an 8-4 win in the first round of Giovanni Garcia and Raphael Gastelu (UL). They then lost a close one to fifth-seeded Kai Chen and Sadikov, 8-6.  
 
In the Blue 1 Doubles Draw, Chan and Jiang won a tight 8-7 (5) first-round match over James Parnwell and Daniil Lunev (FMC). They then won 8-6 over Nils Guyot and Suri before falling in yet another close match, 8-6, to Zachary Miano and Chaitanya (HC) in the semifinals.
