ANNAPOLIS, MD – The Johns Hopkins men's tennis team opened the fall portion of its schedule this past weekend at Navy's annual Joe Hunt Invitational.
 
SINGLES
Adam Stavrakas won his opening match against Deniz Okyay (GMU) 6-1, 6-4 on Friday. He then won in three sets over Alexander Fragasso (CU) 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (2). He dropped his third match of the weekend, 6-4, 6-1 to Luke Tollenaar (UD). Dylan Blenkiron fell in his first match to Ekansh Kumar (GMU) 6-1, 6-3. He then beat Adam Patry (GWU) 7-6 (3), 6-3 and lost in his third match to Adam Bojkovic (UD) 6-3, 6-3.
 
Chakor Rajendra fell in three sets in a tight first match 7-5, 6-7 (5), 0-1 (6). He then lost 6-2, 6-4 to Heath Paul Waters (CU) but closed out his singles matches with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Mario Beckles (UD). Allan Xu beat Adria Franco Regue (GMU) 6-1, 7-5 and then lost just one game in his win over Juan Francisco Munoz (CU). He wrapped up the weekend with a 6-4, 6-4 win over Pere Prat Turro (UD).
 
Austin He dropped his first match 6-2, 6-1 to Joshua Vargas (GMU). He then won 6-2, 6-4 over Arush Gupta (CU).  He retired in his third match versus Mikolaj Kowal (CU). Cole Langer fell 6-4, 6-0 to Shaharyar Saeed (GMU) in his first match. He then lost to Charlie Ruffell (CU) 6-2, 6-1. Daniel Greene won 6-2, 6-1 over Lee Fiorello (USNA) in his first match and then beat Kowal 6-4, 6-3.
 
Gabe Xu lost in three sets 6-4, 1-6, 1-0 (8) to Aaron Gu (USNA). Mukundh Boopathi rallied to win 1-6, 6-2, 1-0 (4) over Vladimir Guyot-Sionnest (CU). He then lost 6-3, 6-4 to Matteus Froberg Dahlin (UD). Lixing Jiang dropped his match in three 6-3, 2-6, 1-0 (13) to Finn Logue (ISU). Andy Zhu rallied to win 3-6, 6-3, 1-0 (8) over Tim Vargas (CU) in his lone match.
 
DOUBLES
Stavrakas paired with Blenkiron for a 6-2 win over Delaware's Federico Garbero and Torro. The pair lost to Navy's Charlie Spencer and George Cutone 6-4. Stavrakas and Blenkiron rebounded with a 6-0 win over Navy's Lachlan Buckingham and Louis Anderson.
 
Rajendra and He fell to Bojkovic and Froberg Dahlin 6-4. Rajendra then paired with Boopathi in a 6-3 lose to Kumar and Vilain. Langer and Zhu paired to beat Delaware's John Gentek and Tian Hao Hou, 6-2. Rajendra and Allan Xu won 6-2 over Navy's Tommy Kim and Reed Smith. The duo then beat Navy's Jacob Jones and Ethan Garcia 7-6 (3).
 
He and Langer paired for a 6-1 win over George Mason's Nicholas Novitski and Saeed. Brian Yi and Boopathi fell 6-2 to Beckles and Tollenaar in their first match. Boopathi and Langer then fell to Buckingham and Anderson 7-5. The pair then won 6-4 over Spencer and Cutone.
 
Greene and Gabe Xu didn't drop a game in their win over Gu and Fiorello. Jiang and Allan Xu lost a close match to Geore Mason's Egor Zackarov and Franco Regue 7-6 (3). Greene and Zhu fell 6-1 to Jones and Garcia and then 6-3 to Kim and Smith.
 
Hopkins returns to action at the UMW Kickoff September 19-20 in Fredericksburg, VA.
