King Named First Team All-Centennial, 3 Other Blue Jays Earn Conference Honors

LANCASTER, PA – Four Blue Jays were named to All-Centennial teams led by senior catcher AJ King as a first-team selection.
 
King earns All-Centennial First Team honors for the second straight season. The senior captain started 36 of the team's 38 games, making 30 starts behind the dish. King hit .374, totaling 55 hits and racking up 17 extra-base hits. King scored 28 runs, drove in 25 and registered an OBP of .420. As a backstop, King committed just two errors on the season and threw out 15 would-be base stealers. King finishes his career as a two-time first team selection and the 2021 NCAA Regional Tournament MVP.  King's selection marks the 92nd first team selection for JHU since 1994, leading the conference by a substantial margin.
 
Freshman third baseman Shawn Steuerer and junior outfielder Matthew Cooper were named to the second team. Steuerer completed one of the most impressive freshman seasons in JHU history, hitting .393 with nine homers, nine doubles and 27 RBI. The Wellington, FL product led the team with 57 hits, 37 runs scored, 99 total bases and a .444 OBP.
 
Cooper started 30 games for the Blue Jays after transferring in from Delaware. The junior was the top power threat on the Jays, leading the team with 12 homers, 21 extra-base hits and a .735 slugging percentage. Cooper drove in 42 runs and scored 30 while drawing 18 walks to put up a .431 OBP.
 
After a year away in 2021, Matthew Dillard returned this season, earning All-Centennial Honorable Mention honors. The senior right-hander compiled a 4-4 record with a 4.71 ERA in a team-high 70.2 innings pitched. The Maryland native struck out 64 and fired two complete games in 2022. In Centennial play, Dillard was 2-2 with a 4.05 ERA over six starts and 40.0 innings. The senior allowed just five runs in his final 26.0 innings.
 
Jack Walters was the Blue Jay representative on the All-Sportsmanship team. Coach Bob Babb's team finished 20-18 in 2022.
