Lancaster, PA – Johns Hopkins track & field athletes,
Lina Spjut and
Victoria Kadiri, have been named Centennial Conference Athletes of the Week it was announced today.
Competing at the prestigious Penn Relays on Thursday, Spjut competed in the 5000 for the first time in her collegiate career. The Texas native ran the seventh-fastest time in program history, crossing the finish line with a time of 16:41.83 to move into the top-10 on the DIII performance list. Spjut joins teammates
Alex Ross and
Ella Baran in the top-10. Not only are the Jays the only program with three athletes in the top-10, but they're the only program with multiple athletes in the top-12.
Competing in Shippensburg, PA on Saturday, Kadiri continues to reset records at Johns Hopkins. At the Paul Kaiser Classic, Kadiri jumped into the top-five in the women's triple jump with a 12.22m leap. Kadiri improved on her previous school record jump of 11.82m and moved up from 19
th nationally to number three.
Johns Hopkins will look to bring another trophy back to Baltimore this weekend as they compete in the three-day Centennial Conference Championship event.
