The Short Story: The Johns Hopkins women's tennis team took down Washington College, 5-0, in the Centennial Conference semifinals Saturday afternoon.
 
How it Happened
• The Blue Jays grabbed an early 3-0 lead after doubles and then earned two quick wins in singles to secure a spot in the Centennial Conference title match.
• Sophomore 
Ali Bader and junior 
Emily Javedan took the first point of the match with an 8-1 win at second doubles over M.C. Diaz-Nazario and Alisha White. Junior 
Christina Huynh and freshman 
Aya Igaki-Meader then defeated Irene Meng and Piper Sartison, 8-1, at first. Senior 
Jessica Liang and junior 
Celina Liu completed the doubles sweep with an 8-3 win over Bin Nguyen and Katie Ruppert at third.
• Bader pushed Hopkins lead to 4-0 in the match when she beat White 6-3, 6-1 at second singles. Senior 
Amanda Ruci then clinched the win for the Blue Jays with a 6-3, 6-0 win at fifth over Nguyen.
 
What it Means
• Hopkins improves to 30-11 all-time against Washington College, including 8-0 in the Centennial Conference Tournament.
• This will be the Blue Jays 14
th appearance in the Centennial title match.
 
Up Next
• Hopkins will take on the winner of Swarthmore-Haverford in Sunday's title match. The match is scheduled for a 3:00 pm start at the JHU Tennis Courts.
