BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins men's swim team grabbed a pair of top-three finishes and two NCAA B times on the third and final day of the Thomas Murphy Invitational Sunday. The only Division III team competing in the four-team field, Hopkins finished in third place with 1682 points.
Roddy beat the field by nearly 11 seconds to win the 1650 Free with an NCAA B time of 15:47.64. Freshman
Will Dunlap finished in 12
th place with a time of 17:03.60. Sophomore
Bryce Lloyd then took fourth place in the 200 Back as he clocked in at 1:49.40.
Freshman
Adam Sandid swam to a win in the B Final of the 100 Free in 47.12. Senior
Jay Heymann finished in fifth in 47.63, followed by junior
Daniel Byrnes just eight-hundredths of a second later for sixth. Sophomore
Christian Mayr took seventh as he finished in 47.84. In the C Final, sophomore
Shawn Zhou placed third in 48.09.

Eric Ji led a trio of Blue Jays in the A Final of the 200 Breast with a seventh-place finish and a time of 2:04.12. Graduate student
Brandon Stride finished nine-hundredths of a second after for an eighth-place finish. Junior
Joe Castagno followed in ninth place with a time of 2:05.26. In the B Final, senior
Justin Limberg took the top spot in 2:06.80. Graduate student
Ike Shirakata finished in second place and a time of 2:07.36.
Sophomore
Avery Clapp then took third place in the A Final of the 200 Fly as he finished with an NCAA B time of 1:50.23. Freshman
Rad Couture finished in second place in the B Final with a time of 1:55.81. Junior
Jonik Surprenant took sixth place in 1:57.61 and senior
Alex Ren placed ninth in 2:01.58.
The Blue Jays closed out the weekend with a sixth-place finish in the 400 Free Relay. Lloyd, Sandid, Heymann and Clapp combined for a time of 3:06.67. Castagno, Surprenant, Dunlap and Couture finished in eighth place with a time of 3:11.84.
Hopkins returns to action in two weeks when the Blue Jays host the Georgetown Hoyas on Saturday, November 11.
