CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The Johns Hopkins men's swim team returned to action at the Cavalier Invitational Friday night. The Blue Jays are the only non-Division I team, out of eight, competing at the invitational.
Hopkins kicked things off with a fourth-place finish in the 200 Free Relay. The team of senior
Spencer Ryan, freshmen
Christian Mayr and
Shawn Zhou and junior
Jay Heymann swam a 1:24.33. Sophomore
Eric Ji then led a trio of Blue Jays that finished third through fifth in the 500 Free. Ji clocked in at 4:36.67, followed by sophomore
Jonik Surprenant in 4:39.25 and senior
Alec Caswell in 4:46.78.
Freshman
Bryce Lloyd took sixth place in the 200 IM as he touched in 1:52.07. Freshman
Andrew Huang placed seventh in 1:52.33. Ryan followed with a fourth-place finish in the 50 Free with a time of 21.01. Junior
Justin Limberg turned in a career-best in the 100 Fly time trial with a swim of 50.72.
The Cavalier Invitational continues on Saturday, February 4 at 11:00 am with the prelims of the 100 Fly. Hopkins will also send a contingent to the Blue Hen Invitational at Delaware on Saturday. That meet is slated for a 10:00 am start.
