CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – Sophomore Meg Susil led the Johns Hopkins women's swim team with a win on day one of the Cavalier Invitational. The Blue Jays are the only non-Division I team competing at the invitational, hosted by the University of Virginia.
 
Hopkins opened the three-day meet with a second-place finish in the 200 Free Relay. The team of sophomore Megan Craven, freshman Alia Basler, junior Makenzie Higgins and graduate student Sophia Girgenti finished in 1:36.03. In addition, Craven posted a career-best 50 Free split of 24.45.
 
Suil then grabbed a win in the 500 Free as she clocked in with an NCAA B time of 4:58.55. Freshman Alex Watson followed in 5:01.70 for second place. Freshman Rachel Davis took ninth place in the 200 IM as she touched in 2:08.35. Basler placed 16^th in the 50 Free and tied her career best time of 24.07. Senior Emerson Davis posted an NCAA B time in the 200 Fly time trial as she clocked in at 2:04.63.
 
The Cavalier Invitational continues on Saturday, February 4 at 11:00 am with the prelims of the 100 Fly. Hopkins will also send a contingent to the Blue Hen Invitational at Delaware on Saturday. That meet is slated for a 10:00 am start.
