CHARLOTTESVILLE, VA – The Johns Hopkins men's swim team posted three NCAA B qualifying times and six career best swims on the second day of the Cavalier Invitational.
The Blue Jays placed four swimmers in the top 10 of the 100 Fly, including three career-bests, to open the night. Senior
Spencer Ryan led the quartet of Blue Jays with a swim of 49.48 for seventh place. Freshman
Andrew Huang followed in eighth in 50.15, while junior
Alex Ren took ninth in 51.10. Freshman
Shawn Zhou finished in 10
th place with a swim of 51.96.
Sophomore
Eric Ji then grabbed third in the 400 IM as he turned an NCAA B time of 3:57.00. JHU then took sixth, seventh and eighth in the 200 Free. Junior
Jay Heymann led the way with a sixth-place finish and a career-best swim of 1:40.53. Sophomore
Jonik Surprenant finished in 1:44.59 and senior
Alec Caswell followed in 1:45.92.
Junior
Justin Limberg placed fourth in the 100 Breast. His time of 54.95 is a career-best and an NCAA B time. Sophomore
Mitchell List swam a 57.89 to place ninth and edge sophomore
Eric Jin by just two-hundredths of a second. Freshman
Bryce Lloyd then placed sixth in the 100 Back. He also turned in a career-best and NCAA B qualifying time of 49.31.
The third and final day of the Cavalier Invitational will begin with the prelims of the 200 Back at 10:00 am on Sunday, February 5.
