LANCASTER, PA – Two Blue Jays have racked up the Centennial Track & Field Athletes of the Week awards this season, and the duo was once again selected for their performances last weekend, it was announced today.
Lauren Phillips and
Victoria Kadiri once again swept the awards for the week for the second-consecutive week and the third time this season. Phillips earned the track athlete of the week and Kadiri was the field athlete of the week.
Lauren Phillips has been setting records this entire season, so much so that she is even beginning to break records that has set earlier in the season. At the Division III Invitational, she set a new conference record, that had stood for 21 years, in the 400 with a time of 56.79. This also set a new school record, which she initially broke two weeks prior at the Gotham Cup. Another record Phillips broke at the Gotham Cup was taken down last weekend as her 200 time of 25.53 set a new school record and is the second fastest in conference history. Phillips came in first place in both events at the meet. Her 400 time ranks 29
th nationally and her 200 time is currently sixth.
Victoria Kadiri earned her fourth Field Athlete of the Week selection off the back of her performance last weekend. She came in first place in three different events at the Division III Invitational, the long jump, triple jump and 60-meter hurdles. Her triple jump mark of 12.27 meters is the second best in the country this year, only behind her own mark earlier this season. Kadiri's long jump mark of 5.56 meters currently puts her in the top five nationally.
Kadiri and Phillips will join the rest of their teammates up in Boston, MA this upcoming weekend at Boston University's David Hemery Invitational.
