GREENSBORO, NC – The Johns Hopkins men's swim team had a trio of A finalists and garnered 57 points on day one of the 2023 NCAA Championships. The Blue Jays sit in fifth place with their 57 points, five points shy of fourth place and eight points shy of third.
Junior
Kellen Roddy opened the meet for the Blue Jays with a fifth-place finish in the 500 Free. He clocked in with a time of 4:24. 18. His prelim time of 4:23.18 is a career-best and the eighth fastest time in program history. This is his second straight fifth-place finish in the 500 Free at NCAAs.
In the 200 IM, senior
Steven Rua took seventh place as he finished in 1:48.28. He swam a career-best 1:47.59 in the prelims. Senior
Kyle Wu won the consolation final, and placed ninth overall, with a swim of 1:48.00.
Hopkins wrapped up the first night of the championships with an eighth-place finish in the 200 Medley Relay. Rua, junior

Spencer Ryan combined for a time of 1:28.38, shaving half a second off their prelim time. Their final time is the third fastest time in program history.
Day two of the NCAA championships begin with the prelim of the 200 Free Relay at 10:00 am. The finals are scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm.
