GREENSBORO, NC – Freshman
Avery Clapp led the Johns Hopkins men's swim team with a fourth-place finish in the 200 Fly on day three of the NCAA Championships. The Blue Jays grabbed 45 more points and is in sixth place with 145 points.
Clapp turned in a record-breaking swim en route to his fourth-place finish in the 200 Fly. He swam a 1:46.25 in the finals, dropping 1.35 seconds off his prelim time. In the process, he shaved three tenths of a second off his own school record. His fourth-place finish in the 200 Fly is the best by a Blue Jay since Sean Kim took third in 2005.
Senior
Steven Rua followed with a sixth-place finish in the consolation final of the 100 Back. He swam a 48.77 in the finals, while his prelim time of 48.07 is a career best and the fifth fastest in program history. It is his first career All-America honor in the 100 Back.
Senior
Kyle Wu then won the consolation final of the 100 Breast, to finish ninth overall. He knocked 0.45 seconds off his prelim time to win the head in 54.06. His finals' time is a career-best and the 10
th fastest in program history. It is also his third straight All-America honor in the event.
Hopkins closed out the night with a ninth-place finish in the 800 Free Relay. Wu, sophomore

Kellen Roddy finished in 6:38.89 to best MIT's team by 1.18 seconds. The Blue Jays have now garnered All-America honors in the 800 Free Relay each year since 1972.
The final day the championships begins with the 100 Free prelims at 10:00 am on Saturday, March 18. The finals are set to begin at 6:00 pm.
