DURHAM, NC – Junior William Hu finished in 20th place in the Sabre at the 2023 NCAA Fencing Championships. Johns Hopkins earned five points in the team standings and finished in 27th place.
Hu went 4-8 on day one of the championships and then 1-8 on day two to finish with a 5-16 record and 20th place. He was one of just five Division III fencers, out of 24, to compete in the Sabre at the championships.
Hu led the Blue Jay Sabre Squad in wins, finishing the season with a 72-39 record. He is 148-64 in his career. His 20th place finish is the best by a Blue Jay in the Sabre since Paul Cordts placed 10th in 1980.
