MADISON, NJ – The Johns Hopkins men's fencing team won its 31
st Mid-Atlantic Collegiate Fencing Association (MACFA) title Sunday afternoon. In addition, the Blue Jays won the Foil and Sabre titles. JHU's 31 overall team titles and 29 Sabre titles are the most in MACFA history.
Hopkins went a combined 114-12 to bring home its first MACFA team title since 2018. Head coach
Austin Young was also named the Peter Conomikes Coach of the Year.

Alan Zheng and freshman
Spencer Grossman Smisek went 37-5 to win the program's 19
th Foil title. Zheng also won the individual Foil title, the first by a Blue Jay since Jay Petrie in 2013. Zheng upset the top-seed in the title bout. Grossman Smisek finished in a tie for third and Bae placed 11
th.
The Sabre squad of senior

William Hu and freshman
Larry Cai went an impressive 40-2 to win the 29
th title in program history. It is also the first Sabre title for the Blue Jays since 2018. In the individual championship, Hu finished in a tie for third for his second top-three finish in his career. Mehta placed fifth after falling to the eventual champion in the quarterfinals.

Matthew Dao and
Jorge Gana finished in a tie with NJIT with 37 wins. The Highlanders took the title with 72 indicators, compared to 66 for the Blue Jays. JHU's runner-up finish is their best since the 2018 championship. In the individual competition, Dao and Gana finished in a tie for third and Insler placed 14
th.
