The Johns Hopkins track and field team started the first of three days at the Penn Relays on Thursday evening with five individuals competing in the longest-running annual relay meet.
Meet Highlights
- Emmanuel Leblond highlighted the first day performances for Johns Hopkins, running in the men's 10K. The indoor Centennial Conference Rookie of the Year conquered another JHU freshman record, clocking in at 30:45.43 to top the previous freshman record of 32:30.90, which stood since 2014. His time was a top 10 performance in school history. Gavin McElhennon also competed in the event and came in with a time of 30:57.18.
- Sydney Fridel and Triya Roy competed in the women's 10K and finished with times of 36:39.03 and 37:32.23 respectively.
- Sara Stephenson was the first to compete for the Blue Jays on the night in the 3K Steeplechase. Stephenson finished the run with a time of 10:48.85.
The Blue Jays will have a couple groups competing in relay events tomorrow night at the Penn Relays.
