LANCASTER, PA- The All-Centennial men's track and field team had several members from Johns Hopkins after their individual performances at the Centennial Conference Championships, it was announced this afternoon. This comes after the Blue Jays came in second place by just nine points at the conference championships last weekend.
Five different Blue Jays earned a spot on the first team after coming in first place in their event and earning a gold medal at the conference championships. Ethan Bartlett (HJ, TJ) is the one Johns Hopkins athlete who earned multiple spots on the first team with multiple gold medals last weekend. Bartlett now has three gold medals in his career. The others to earn a first team spot were Conrad Say (100), Charlie Teeter (3000S), Owen Bianchi (LJ) and Peter Lim (PV).
Johns Hopkins earned three second team spots on the second team after three athletes earned silver medals at the championships. Gavin McElhennon (10000), Owen Bianchi (HJ) and Ethan Oluwole (TJ). It was the third medal for McElhennon in his outdoor career, Bianchi picked up the second and third medals of his career and Oluwole earned the first of his outdoor career.
Five more Blue Jays were on the honorable mention All-Centennial squad with a third-place finish at the conference championships. Arthur Beyer (800), Matthew Kleiman (1500), Connor Oiler (3000S), Gavin McElhennon (5000) and James Reilly (Decathlon) wrapped up the Blue Jay names on the All-Centennial teams.
Each team has one member selected to the All-Sportsmanship team and the Blue Jays team member selected for this season was Owen Bianchi.
Johns Hopkins will compete in many qualifying meets over the next week as they look to get prepared for the NCAA Championships at the end of the month.
