BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins freshman attacker
Ava Angello has been named to the 2023 Inside Lacrosse All-America Team it was announced this morning. Angello was named to the honorable mention team and is one of just five freshmen to earn All-America honors from Inside Lacrosse.
This is the third straight year that JHU has had an Inside Lacrosse All-American. In addition, she is the first Blue Jay freshman to earn the honor from IL since Kadie Stamper in 2005.
Angello led the Blue Jays with 40 goals and 53 points and ranked fourth with 13 assists. She also ranked third in draw controls (30) in 18 games. Angello's 53 points are the third most by a freshman in Johns Hopkins' history, while her 40 goals are the fourth most. In addition, her 13 assists are fifth most by a freshman in JHU history. She is the first freshman to lead the Blue Jays in goals and points since 2009.
Angello notched a hat trick in her collegiate opener against Albany and finished with seven hat tricks on the season. She tied the program record for goals by a freshman with six in the win over Monmouth. She set a program record for goals by a freshman in an NCAA Tournament game with her four scores against UMass in the first round.
