Wong and Xiao Advance to NCAA Quarterfinals

Box Score ORLANDO, FL – Johns Hopkins freshmen Kamila Wong and Jay Xiao won their opening round match in the NCAA Doubles Championship Friday at the USTA National Campus.

Wong and Xiao beat Yuu Ishikawa and Katherine Orgielewicz of Williams in straight sets. The teams were tied at two in the first set after Ishikawa and Orgielewicz held serve. The Blue Jays then won four of the next five games to take the first set 6-3. In the second set, the duo from Williams went up 4-3, but Wong and Xiao answered by winning three straight games to win the set, 6-4, and take the match.

This is the first time since 2012, and just the second time ever, that a Blue Jay doubles' team has advanced to the quarterfinals. With the win, Wong and Xiao earn All-America honors. They are just the third and fourth freshmen in program history to earn All-America honors in doubles.
