Champs! Chang and Kim Win ITA Southeast Doubles Title

Box Score FREDERICKSBURG, VA – Graduate student Ashley Chang and freshman Sophia Kim completed their run at the 2023 ITA Southeast Championship Monday morning by winning the doubles championship. The duo is just the second at Johns Hopkins to win the ITA Southeast Doubles Championship, joining Ashnaa Rao and Mikey Barthelmass, who won the title in 2016.
 
Chang and Kim garner All-America honors with their win and earn a spot in the 2023 ITA Cup, scheduled for October 12-16 in Rome, GA.
 
Chang and Kim defeated second-seeded Hana Kimmey and Amanda Hagino (Mary Washington), 8-7 (4) in the semifinals Monday morning. The duo then turned right around and beat fifth-seeded Anna Chow and Danna Taylor (Carnegie Mellon) 6-2, 6-1 to punch their ticket to the ITA Cup.
 
Graduate student Mary Beth Hurley then faced off against Taylor, seeded second, in the semifinals of the singles draw. Taylor took the match 6-2, 6-4 to advance to the finals.
