LANCASTER, PA - Johns Hopkins junior linebacker
Oliver Craddock has been named the Centennial Conference Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts in the Blue Jays' 27-17 season-opening win over ninth-ranked Ithaca last Saturday. This is the first time Craddock has been honored by the Centennial.
Â
Craddock posted a career-high 13 tackles to lead the way defensively for the Blue Jays. His efforts helped fuel a Johns Hopkins defense that held Ithaca more than 21 points below its season scoring average from last season, when the Bombers went 12-1 and advanced to the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Â
Craddock's 13 tackles better his previous career-best of five, which came in a win over Gettysburg during thew 2022 season. The 13 tackles are also the most in a season opener by a Johns Hopkins player since
James Closser had 13 in a win over Randolph-Macon in 2018.
Â
Johns Hopkins (1-0) will return to action on Saturday, September 9 when the Blue Jays welcome Christopher Newport to Homewood Field (6 pm). This week's game against the Captains will mark the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
