LANDOVER, MD – The Johns Hopkins men's track and field team took part in the Robert Comstock Cardinal Classic Saturday afternoon, grabbing several top 10 finishes in another successful meet.
Sebastian Tangelson got things started in the 60-meter hurdles, grabbing sixth place with a time of 9.21 to secure the Blue Jays their first top-10 finish on the day. Wrapping up the day's limited track events was Tangelson and
Owen Takahashi in the 800, with Tangelson finishing 16
th with a time of 2:09.02 while Takahashi snuck into the top-30 with his 2:19.42 finish to claim 28th.
Kicking off the field events were
James Reilly and
Aidan Rothstein in the pole vault. Reilly was the higher finisher, clearing 3.95 meters to grab sixth, with Rothstein also finishing in the top-10 with his vault of 3.50 meters securing him 8
th. The next top-10 finisher was
Ryan Braga, who finished 9
th in the shot put with a throw of 12.98 meters before Hopkins took over in the jumps.
The Blue Jays placed three in the top-10 in the high jump headlined by
Ethan Oluwole who grabbed third after clearing a height of 1.75 meters. Also finishing in the top-10 were
Wech Ring (T7th – 1.70) and
Peter Lim (T10th – 1.65), with Reilly just missing out with a 12
th-place finish after clearing 1.60 meters.
The day concluded at the pits, where Maxie Lin claimed a pair of fourth-place finishes in both the long jump and triple jump with leaps of 6.45 and 13.16 meters respectively. Taking the highest place among Blue Jays in the triple jump was Oluwole, who took third after clearing 13.28 meters.
Next up for Hopkins is the Patriot Games set to take place Friday, Jan. 26 and Saturday, Jan. 27.
