BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team is ranked fifth in the Preseason Inside Lacrosse Media Poll it was announced today. The Blue Jays earned 371 points to grab the number five spot in the poll; Johns Hopkins finished the 2023 season ranked fifth by Inside Lacrosse after posting a 12-6 record and advancing to the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Defending national champion Notre Dame grabbed 16 first-place votes and totaled 468 points to grab the top spot in the poll. Duke (461 points / 6 first-place votes), Virginia (435 / 2) and Penn State (381) join Johns Hopkins in the top five.
Johns Hopkins will open the season on February 3 at home against Denver. The Pioneers are ranked 13
th in the Preseason Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and are one of nine teams on the 2024 Blue Jay schedule that are ranked in the top 20. In addition to the Pioneers, the Blue Jays will also face Virginia (3
rd), Penn State (4
th), Maryland (6
th), Syracuse (9
th), Michigan (11
th), Georgetown (12
th), Rutgers (15
th) and North Carolina (17
th). Johns Hopkins will also face Loyola and Ohio State, which are among the teams receiving votes in the preseason poll.
