LANCASTER, PA – Johns Hopkins freshman place-kicker Brad Paxton has been named the Centennial Conference Special Teams Player of the Week after his record-tying performance in the Blue Jays' 51-7 win over Gettysburg on Friday (Oct. 11). This is the first time Paxton has been honored by the Centennial and his selection marks the first time this season a Johns Hopkins player has earned a Player of the Week honor (offense/defense/special teams) from the Centennial.
Paxton hit all six of his extra points and was 3-for-3 on field goals as he was good from 27, 20 and 30 yards in the victory against the Bullets. His 15 points tied the Johns Hopkins single-game record for points by a kicker and this was the third time a Blue Jay kicker has recorded 15 points in a game. Alex Lachman originally set the record with 15 points in a game against Moravian in 2007 and then matched his own record in 2009 against Franklin & Marshall.
Through five games, Paxton is 12-of-13 on extra points and 5-of-7 on field goals. His five field goals are tied for the most in the Centennial Conference and he ranks third in the league in scoring among kickers (27 points / 5.4 pts/game).
Johns Hopkins (4-1, 1-0 Centennial) will return to action on Saturday, October 19 when the Blue Jays welcome Franklin & Marshall to Homewood Field (1 pm).
