LANCASTER, PA – The Johns Hopkins men's soccer team swept the Centennial Conference Player of the Week honors this week after beating undefeated and 13
th-ranked Franklin & Marshall. Senior
Will Sangpachatanaruk was named the Offensive Player of the Week while sophomore
Simon Turner was tabbed as the Defensive Player of the Week.
Sangpachatanaruk, who earns player of the week honors for the second time this season, had a hand in both of JHU's goals in the win over F&M. He notched an assist on the game's first goal in the 17
th minute and then scored the game-winner in the 72
nd minute.
Turner made a career-best nine saves in the win over the Diplomats on Saturday. Three of his nine saves came after Hopkins took the lead in the 72
nd minute, including one with just 40 seconds remaining to preserve the win.
Sangpachatanaruk leads the Blue Jays with a career-high five assists and is tied for the team lead with 11 points. He is also tied for second with three goals. Turner has made five straight starts in goal and sports a 0.95 goals against average with a .800 save percentage and a 3-1-1 record.
Hopkins (8-3-3, 4-1-1 CC) returns to action on Wednesday, October 23 as the Blue Jays host Washington College. The Centennial Conference contest is scheduled for a 7:00 pm start at Homewood Field.
