BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins opened the indoor track and field season in three locations Saturday. The Blue Jays sent athletes to Boston University, Navy and Ursinus to kick off the season.
BU Sharon Colyear-Danvile Season Opener
Emmanuel Leblond was the lone Blue Jay in Boston and made the most of his trip. Fresh off a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Cross Country Championships, Leblond crushed the school and conference record in the 5000m and became just the seventh runner in Division III to break the 14-minute mark. He finished the race in 13:54.45 to place 87
th overall and was the only Division III runner to place in the top-160 in the event.
Navy Indoor Invitational
Lucas Rackers led the Blue Jays with a win and a personal best in the 3000m as he crossed the line in 8:17.41.
Oluwademilade Adeniran posted a personal best in the triple jump with a leap of 14.30 to finish second, just one-hundredth of a meter ahead of Mount St. Mary's Caleb Nelson.
Brady Ott took sixth place in 8:32.21 in his first collegiate race and
Kenny Wanlass followed in seventh in 8:39.86.
Spencer Ye ran a strong 49.72 to finish in fifth place in the 400m.
Alex Colletti also earned a top-five finish as he ran a 22.13 in the 200m.
Seth Wyzykowski took ninth place in the pole vault with a jump of 4.30 in his collegiate debut.
Ursinus Bow Tie Invitational
The Blue Jays dominated the 5000m as they had 11 of the top 12 runners.
Rowan Cassidy paced the field with a personal best 14:56.92.
Tommy Li finished in third place (15:04.54), followed by
Connor Oiler (15:10.27) and
Sean Enright (15:2.53) to round out the top five.
Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, January 18 at the Catholic Cardinal Invitational in Washington, DC.
