BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins men's fencing team went undefeated at the annual JHU Invitational Sunday. Junior
Ethan Kim and sophomore
Alex Jeffords each hit the 100-win milestone to highlight the day.
JHU opened with a 21-6 win over William & Mary, led by the Sabre squad's 9-0 win.
Larry Cai,
Qilin Tong and
Leonid Kotov combined for the nine wins in the Sabre. In the Epee, Kim won all three of his bouts, including the 100
th win of his career, in a 6-3 Blue Jay win.
Anthony Bae and
Spencer Grossman Smisek each won two bouts to lead the Foil squad to a 6-3 win.
The Blue Jays followed that with a 23-4 win over the Lafayette Leopards. Cai, Jeffords and
William Hu went a combined 9-0 for the Sabre squad.
Gabe and
Ethan Insler earned two wins each as the Epee squad won 6-3. The Foil squad then picked up an 8-1 win, led by Bae's three wins.
Hopkins then defeated sixth-ranked Drew, 22-5, with the Epee squad picking up a 9-0 win. Hu won all three of his bouts as the Sabre squad won 7-2.

Ayan Bhatnagar each won three bouts in the Epee squad's win.
Alan Zheng went undefeated to lead the Foil squad to a 6-3 win.
JHU beat Rutgers, 24-3, with the Foil squad earning a 9-0 win. Kotov won all three bouts to lead the Sabre squad to a 7-2 win. Kim did the same for the Epee squad in its 8-1 win. Grossman Smisek, Zheng and
Alex Paek combined for the nine wins by the Foil squad.
The Blue Jays then won a close 15-12 decision over the Cornell Big Red. Hu won two of his three bouts and Kotov clinched the Blue Jays' 5-4 win in the Sabre.
Ethan Insler and
Jorge Gana won two bouts each to lead the Epee squad to a 6-3 win. And in the Foil, Paek won twice as the Jays dropped a 5-4 deicision.
Hopkins ended the day with a 27-0 win over Rowan. Kotova and Cai combined for six wins for the Sabre squad.
Danny Comer,
Gabe Insler and Bhatnagar each went 3-0 for the Epee squad. Bae, Zheng and Paek did the same for the Foil squad.
Hopkins returns to action next Sunday at Stevens for the MACFA B vs C.
