BLACKSBURG, VA – Four members of the Johns Hopkins women's track and field team competed in Day 2 of the Doc Hale VT Meet Saturday afternoon, with
Victoria Kadiri and
Lauren Phillips setting new season-best marks facing off against Division I competition.
Kadiri and
Chloe Zhang got things started in the 60-meter prelims, finishing 20
th and 21
st respectively with times of 7.84 and 7.85 seconds. Next up was Phillips, who set season-best times in both the 200 and 400, starting with a 21
st-place finish in the 200 with a time of 25.22 before securing 13
th in the 400 after crossing the line in 57.31. The junior's times rank as the 16
th and 12
th-fastest in Division III respectively.
In the field events it was Kadiri putting together another strong outing, setting a season-best mark in the long jump with a distance of 5.92 meters to secure fifth before grabbing another top-five finish with her 12.57 meter-leap in the triple jump. Finishing behind the senior and also setting a new personal best was
Sara Bartlett, who ended the afternoon in 16
th with a jump of 11.65 meters.
Next up for the Blue Jays are the David Hemery Invitational set for Friday, Feb. 9 and Saturday, Feb. 10 as well as the Big Apple Invitational also on the 10
th.
