GREENSBORO, NC – Sophomore
Avery Clapp led the Johns Hopkins men's swim team with a sixth-place finish in the 100 Fly Thursday night on day two of the NCAA Championships. The Blue Jays picked up 25 points and are in 17
th place with 44 total points through two days.
Clapp swam a 47.72 to take sixth place in the championship final of the 100 Fly. The finish is eight spots higher than his finish as a freshman in 2023. His prelim time of 47.27 is the third fastest in program history, while his finals time is tied for the eighth fastest. Clapp now counts nine All-America honors to his resume, including five first team selections.
The Blue Jays ended the night with a third-place finish in the consolation final of the 400 Medley Relay. The team of seniors

Jay Heymann turned in a time of 3:16.92 to finish 11
th overall. The quartet earn Second Team All-America honors with its 11
th place finish. In addition, its prelim time of 3:15.92 is the eighth fastest in school history. This is the 14
th straight year that Hopkins now produced an All-America team in the 400 Medley Relay.
The NCAA Championships continue on Friday at 10:00 am with the prelims of the 200 Fly. The finals are scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm.
