LEWISBURG, PA –
Victoria Kadiri made history once again for the Johns Hopkins women's track & field team at this weekend's Bison Outdoor Classic, breaking her own national record in the triple jump to highlight an action-filled weekend for the Blue Jays.
Kadiri opened the meet with a win in the heptathlon, finishing first in a trio of events and setting a pair of personal bests in the shot put (11.58) and 200 (25.90) to end the event with 4742 points.
Callie Jones (10
th – 4:47.73) and
Isis Diaz (14
th – 4:49.20) narrowly missed out on record times in the unseeded division of the 1500 before
Mackenzie Setton was able to break her previous record in the invitational division, crossing the line in 4:34.14.
In the unseeded division of the 5000 it was
Aisling Callahan finishing as the runner-up with
Sara Stephenson crossing the line in 17:14.20 in the invitational division, before
Isabelle Nobili earned a 15
th-place finish in her first 10,000 of the season, finishing in 36:00.13.
The meet's final day kicked off with the 800 in which all six Blue Jays broke their previous personal-best times.
Annie Huang led the way with a time of 2:10.45 that ranks fifth in Division III, with the trio of
Emma Kothari (2:15.48),
Lorna Arcese (2:15.69) and Setton (2:15.71) all finishing within half a second of each other to set new high-water marks. Rounding out the competition and also setting career bests were
Lily Tremba (2:18.05) and
Diana Valentini (2:18.09).
Anna Zaeske and
Lianne Saussy were the next to PR in the 400, with Zaeske (58.48) narrowly beating out Saussy (58.77) before Kadiri's historic efforts at the pit.
The senior entered her final jump of the evening in second after an unattached participant set the mark at 13.09, and on her last attempt Kadiri not only won the event but broke the national record — previously held by her — with a jump of 13.43 meters. Kadiri's mark is the best-ever in Division III, the Centennial Conference and Johns Hopkins history, leads Division III by nearly a meter and ranks fourth across all Divisions this season in what was an all-time performance by the senior.
Back on the track,
Chloe Zhang set a personal best in the 100 after finishing in 12.68, following that up with a time of 26.78 in the 200 before the remaining events of the meet were cancelled due to lightning.
Hopkins returns next weekend to compete in the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational Friday and Saturday.
