Liu Named Centennial Conference Player of the Week

BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins graduate student Hanyu Liu has been named the Centennial Conference Player of the Week it was announced today. He is the second Blue Jay to earn the honor this season and this is his first career weekly conference honor.
 
Liu went 3-0 at number three singles and 3-0 at number three doubles to lead Johns Hopkins to a 3-0 week. On Tuesday, he paired with Chakor Rajendra to win 8-1 and then won 6-2, 6-0 in singles as the Blue Jays beat the Red Devils. On Friday afternoon, Liu and Rajendra won 8-4 in doubles and Liu then won 6-3, 6-2 in singles and clinched the win at No. 39 Haverford. Against No. 21 Mary Washington, he and Rajendra won 8-7 in doubles and Liu then won 6-4, 6-2 in singles to earn his 100th career victory. 
 
Liu is 15-5 in singles and 10-6 in doubles this season. His 15 singles' wins rank second on the team, while his 10 doubles' wins are tied for third.
 
Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, April 27 with a pair of matches. JHU will face Ursinus and Muhlenberg to wrap up the regular season.
