OWINGS MILLS, MD – The Johns Hopkins men's and women's track teams sent six runners to the ECAC Division III Championships this Friday, with five earning podiums including a trio of first place finishers in their final weekend of competition before NCAAs.
The Blue Jays swept the gold in Friday's pole vault courtesy of Sara Caulley Soto and
Peter Lim. Caulley Soto won on the women's side with her height of 3.03 meters before Lim completed the sweep with his mark of 3.82 meter also earning the junior first for the men.
Chloe Zhang started her eventful day with a second-place finish in the long jump with her mark of 5.08 meters before concluding the meet as a part of Hopkins' podium-placing trio in the triple jump. The freshman finished third in the Blue Jays' final event after clearing 11.06 meters while
Sara Bartlett took the gold with her mark of 11.33 meters, with
Sebastian Tangelson (2
nd / 13.45 meters) also claiming a spot on the podium on the men's side.
Hopkins is back in action this weekend to take part in the IC4A/ECAC Division I Championships, with action beginning Saturday afternoon and finishing Sunday.
