Cyr Named Second Team ABCA All-American

Blue Jay Catcher Adds Second All-America Nod of 2024 Season

BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins senior catcher Caleb Cyr been named to the 2024 ABCA/Rawlings NCAA Division III All-America Second Team it was announced on Thursday evening (May 29) at the opening ceremonies of the Division III World Series.  The All-America selection is the second in as many days for Cyr, who previously was named a Second Team D3baseball.com All-American after a standout 2024 campaign.
 
Cyr becomes the third Johns Hopkins catcher to earn All-America honors from the ABCA as he joins Ryan Orgielewicz (2nd Team / 2017) and Rob Sanzillo (3rd Team / 2007).  Cyr hit .341 with 44 hits, 48 runs scored, 63 RBIs, 10 doubles and 20 home runs in 2024.  He led the team in home runs, RBIs, slugging percentage (.889) and on-base percentage (.489) among players with at least two plate appearances per game who also played in at least 75% of the team's 46 games on the year.
 
Cyr's 20 home runs rank as the second-best single-season total in school history and are a school record for a catcher. In addition, his 20 home runs are the most in the nation this season among all catchers at the NCAA Division III level and are tied for the fourth-best mark among catchers at all levels of the NCAA.
 
Cyr will return for his final season in 2025 with a .319 career batting average.  He has collected 90 hits, 91 runs scored and 114 RBIs with 37 home runs and 19 doubles to his credit.
