BALTIMORE, MD –
Nyah Stahl and
Melissa Er each won twice to lead Johns Hopkins to a 177-84 win over visiting Gettysburg Tuesday afternoon. The Blue Jays won 12 of the 14 events en route to their second straight win over the Bullets.
Hopkins led off the meet with a first and third place finish in the 200 Medley Relay.
Jaya Veerapaneni,
Michelle Liu,
Kennedy Lee and
Elizabeth Cohen earned with a time of 1:46.03.
Kimberly Lan,
Alia Basler,
Kate Petitt and
Anna Miler finished in third in 1:48.19.
Meg Susil then won the 1000 Free by nearly 10 seconds as she touched in 10:36.38.
Ayden Min took third place in 10:50.61.
The Blue Jays swept the top three spots in the 200 Free, led by Er with her swim of 1:53.21.
Julia Tuinman followed in second (1:54.47) and
Alex Watson finished in third (1:56.14). JHU did the same in the 100 Back, with Veerapaneni earning the win in 57.89. Lee placed second with a time of 58.24 and Miler placed third in 59.29. Liu finished in second place in the 100 Breast as she swam a 1:06.79, while
Katherine Chelus finished in fourth (1:07.68).
Petitt led Hopkins in the 200 Fly with a third-place finish in 2:10.36, just 0.14 seconds out of second place.
Taylor Rohovit finished in fourth with a time of 2:20.05. Miler then led the field in the 50 Free as she clocked in at 24.24.
Hannah Fu took fourth place with a time of 25.18. Cohen earned a win in the 100 Free with a swim of 53.07. Veerapaneni placed third as she touched in 53.60.
Stahl picked up a win and posted an NCAA B time as she clocked a 2:02.77 in the 200 Back.
Sarah Fox finished in 2:06.40 for second place. For the third time, Hopkins swept the top three spots, this time in the 200 Breast. Rohovit led the way with an NCAA B time of 2:20.40. Liu followed in second (2:23.61) and
Rachel Davis in third (2:27.03). The Blue Jays then made it four sweeps in the 500 Free. Er picked up her second win as she turned in a swim of 5:08.46. Tuinman took second place in 5:09.35 and Susil claimed third in 5:12.19.
Petit swam a 57.71 to grab the top spot in the 100 Fly. Lee took third place in 59.33, missing second place by just nine-hundredths of a second. Stahl earned her second win as she touched the wall in 2:09.13. Davis edged Gettysburg's Lanie McKenzie to take second in 2:11.01. Hopkins wrapped up the win, the same way the meet started, with first and third place relay finishes. Er, Cohen, Liu and Veerapaneni earned the win with a time of 3:30.91. Miler, Basler, Lee and Lan took third place in 3:35.49.
Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, January 18 at Swarthmore. The meet is scheduled for a 1:00 pm start at Ware Pool.
