BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins men's swimming team capped the three-day H2ounds Invitational at Loyola University Maryland with 15 top-nine individual and relay finishes on Sunday. The Blue Jays finished second in the final team standings with 1,161.50 points.
Highlights of the Blue Jay efforts on Sunday:
400 Medley Relay
The Blue Jay A team of
Kei Henrikson-Brandt,
Larry Yu,
Avery Clapp and
Michael Ivanov grabbed a runner-up finish with a time of 3:17.27 to lead three Hopkins relay teams that finished in the top nine.
1650 Free
Josiah March led a trio of top-six Blue Jay finishers as he touched home in 15:46.80 to place third. Hopkins added a fifth-place finish from freshman
Alessandro Pereira (15:50.64) and a sixth-place showing from sophomore
Jack Cornish (15:58.93).
200 Back
Johns Hopkins continued its strong showing on the final day in the 200 Back as the Blue Jays placed four individuals in the A final. Henrikson-Brandt led the way with a third-place finish as he touched in 1:47.53 and was joined in top eight by Clapp (5
th / 1:49.87),
Dylan Jewett (6
th / 1:50.33) and
Bryce Lloyd (8
th / 1:51.11).
100 Free
Ivanov continued his impressive weekend with a seventh-place finish in the 100 free (46.19).
200 Breast
A trio of Blue Jays would advance to the A final and finished sixth, seven and ninth. Sophomore
Larkin Helman was the first Blue Jay to touch as he finished in 2:04.51 and was followed closely by
Matthew Hartshorn (7
th/2:04.94) and Yu (9
th / 2:05.39).
400 Medley Relay
The Blue Jay A team of Ivanov, Yu, Clapp and
Christian Mayr closed the meet with a fourth-place finish as they touched in 3:02.68
Johns Hopkins will return to action on December 5-6 when the Blue Jays host the JHU Invitational at the Barbara and Jerry Procton Pool.
