Kilrain Selected as Johns Hopkins Men's Lacrosse Captain

Defensman Becomes 13th Solo Captain Since 1949, First Junior

BALTIMORE, MD – Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse coach Peter Milliman announced today that junior defenseman Quintan Kilrain has been selected in a vote of his teammates to serve the team's captain during the upcoming 2026 season.  He will be the first solo captain of the Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team since 1989, when Brendan Kelly served as the team's captain.

"While it's easy to quantify the role he has played on our team since arriving, the selection of Quintan as the captain of the 2026 Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse team speaks even more to the relationships and trust he has built within our program during his first two years," Milliman stated.  "He has earned the respect of every man in our locker room by the way he carries himself on the field, how he represents our program and Johns Hopkins University in everything he does and the passion he demonstrates for the privilege of wearing a Blue Jay uniform.  On a team full of exceptional young men fully capable of understanding what our team needs in a leader, Quintan's overwhelming selection speaks to what he means to each one of them."

Kilrain has played in all 30 games with 26 starts over the last two seasons.  He counts two goals, three assists, 61 ground balls and 22 caused turnovers to his credit and will be the Blue Jays' lone returning starter on close defense in 2026.  A political science major with a minor in business, Kilrain earned Academic All-Big Ten honors as a sophomore and was a member of the United States U-20 Team at 2025 World Championships, where he was named to the All-World Team.

In addition to being the first solo captain at Johns Hopkins since 1989, Kilrain becomes the first junior in program history to serve as an individual captain.  With his selection, he becomes the program's 13th solo captain since 1949; four of the previous 12 served between 1949-53, two others served in the 1960s, two served in the 1970s and four others, including Kelly in 1989, served in the 1980s.

Johns Hopkins will open the 2026 season on Saturday, January 31 when the Blue Jays welcome Robert Morris to Homewood Field.
