BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins men's track and field team turned in a statement-opening weekend at the Navy Indoor Invitational and the Boston University Sharon Colyear-Danville Invitational on Saturday, combining for 15 top-10 finishes and multiple program records across both meets.
A trio of Blue Jays set program records at Navy, with
Ryan Braga (weight throw),
Anirudh Krishnan (mile) and
Alex Colletti (200m) all rewriting the Hopkins record book.
Braga highlighted the field events with a program-record toss of 14.52m (47-7.75) in the weight throw, earning an 11th-place finish. The Blue Jays also produced two all-time No. 2 marks, as
Oluwademilade Adeniran won the triple jump with a 14.39m (47-2.5) leap—second-best in program history—and
Seth Wyzykowski cleared a personal-best 4.50m (14-9) in the pole vault to place seventh, also the No. 2 mark in school history.
On the track, Hopkins collected 13 top-10 finishes at the Naval Academy, led by a record-breaking run from Colletti in the 200m. The junior crossed in 22.04, setting a new school record and finishing fifth in the event.
In the 400m,
Spencer Ye led a trio of top-10 efforts with a fifth-place finish in 50.73.
Josh Lee (7th, 51.18) and
Michael Long (10th, 52.20) rounded out the group. The Blue Jays kept the momentum rolling in the 500m, where
Tyler Caswell (4th, 1:11.15) and
Jack Maier (5th, 1:14.47) finished back-to-back; Caswell's effort marked a personal best.
Fisayo Omonije added a seventh-place finish in the 800m with a 1:55.42, while
Tyson Bhalla also claimed seventh in the 3,000m, running a personal-best 8:37.24.
Krishnan led a strong showing in the mile, placing sixth in 4:15.64, a personal best and the eighth-fastest mile in program history. He was followed by
Olaf Dietz (6th, 4:22.71) and
Vaughn Decker (10th, 4:32.13), both of whom posted personal records.
Hopkins wrapped up its day in Annapolis with two 4x400m relay squads in action. The team of Colletti, Ye, Lee and
Colin Harte placed fourth in 3:21.01, the second-fastest relay time in school history. The quartet of Omonije, Long,
Luke DeBaugh and Caswell finished 10th in 3:31.76.
Up at Boston University, the Blue Jays closed the weekend with several historic performances.
Emmanuel Leblond shattered his own school record in the 5,000m, running 13:53.28—the fifth fastest time in Division III history, trimming more than a second off his previous mark from last season. In the same race, freshman
Anthony Clark clocked a 14:21.46, breaking the Hopkins freshman record formerly held by Leblond (2023) and recording the third-fastest 5,000m in program history. In the 3,000m,
Brady Ott ran a personal-best 8:17.30, also the third-fastest time in program history.
Johns Hopkins returns to action Saturday, January 17, at the Cardinal Track and Field Classic hosted by Catholic University. Events at the Prince George's Sport & Learning Complex are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
