NEW ORLEANS, LA – Johns Hopkins senior
Emmanuel Leblond has been named the M-F Athletic National Athlete of the Week after delivering one of the standout performances at Boston University's Sharon Colyear-Danville Invitational. Leblond becomes just the second male athlete in program history to earn this honor, joining
Andrew Bartnett (pole vault), who received the recognition in 2015. This marks Leblond's first national recognition of the season.
At the Invitational, the Mountain View, CA native shattered his own school record in the 5,000m, clocking a time of 13:53.28. Not only did he improve his personal best by more than a second, but his performance also ranks as the eighth-fastest 5,000m time in Division III history. In a field featuring elite competitors from all three NCAA divisions, Leblond emerged as the fastest Division III runner to cross the finish line.
Johns Hopkins returns to action on Saturday, January 17, at the Cardinal Track and Field Classic, hosted by Catholic University. The meet will be held at the Prince George's Sport & Learning Complex, with events scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
