When Last We Saw Them
• Johns Hopkins ran its season-opening winning streak to three as the Blue Jays topped then 10th-ranked Georgetown, 11-6, last Saturday at Homewood Field.
• Loyola dropped an 8-7 overtime decision at home against Maryland last Saturday.
The Facts
• This is the 138th season of Johns Hopkins men's lacrosse. JHU first fielded a team in 1883.
• Johns Hopkins enters this week's game with an all-time record of 1,030-375-15 (.731).
• Johns Hopkins is the only men's lacrosse program in the nation with 1,000 or more all-time victories. The Blue Jays picked up the program's 1,000th victory with an 11-10 win over Loyola on February 19, 2022.
• JHU owns 44 national championships with nine NCAA titles, 29 USILA titles and six ILA crowns to its credit.
Poll Position
• After three straight wins against top 20 teams to open the season, Johns Hopkins jumped into the top five in both the USILA Coaches Poll (5th) and the KANE Inside Lacrosse Media Poll (4th).
• Loyola is not ranked in the top 20 in either the USILA or KANE Inside Lacrosse Media Polls. The Greyhounds are listed as receiving votes in both polls.
Home Openers
• After playing its first two games of the 2025 season on the road, Johns Hopkins made its 2025 Homewood Field debut when the Blue Jays welcomed Georgetown to Baltimore last Saturday.
• Including last week's 11-6 win over the Hoyas, the Blue Jays are 4-1 in home openers under head coach Peter Milliman and have currently won their last four home openers under his direction.
• JHU is 15-3 in its last 18 home openers and 21-5 in home openers this century.
In February
• This week's game against Loyola will be the 65th all-time for Johns Hopkins in the month of February.
• JHU is 43-21 (.672) all-time in games played in the month of February, including 14-6 (.700) under fifth-year head coach Peter Milliman.
• Johns Hopkins played its first game in the month of February in 1998, didn't play again in February until 2004 and has now played at least one game in the opening month of the season every year since 2006.
Streaking
• Dating back to last season, Johns Hopkins has won eight consecutive regular season games. The Blue Jays' last lost a regular season game on March 15, 2024 when they dropped a 10-9 overtime decision against Navy. The eight-game run is the longest regular-season winning streak for Johns Hopkins since the Blue Jays won 15 straight between 2011-2012.
• Johns Hopkins has won eight consecutive true road games (does not include neutral site games) dating back to the 2023 season. The eight-game road winning streak is the longest for the Blue Jays since an eight-game run that bridged the 2004-2005 seasons.
• The current-eight game run is also tied for the sixth-longest winning streak in true road games in program history.
• Johns Hopkins' current eight-game winning streak in true road games is the longest active road winning streak in the nation.
New-Look Jays
• Johns Hopkins had 26 players appear in the season-opening 13-10 win at Denver.
• Remarkably, of the 26 players who appeared in the game, 13 were making their Blue Jay debut, including nine who had never appeared in a college game before that day.
• Of the 13 players who wore the Hopkins Blue and Black for the first time that day, four were graduate transfers, four were freshmen, four were sophomores and one was a junior.
• 25 JHU players have appeared in all three games thus far - 12 of the 25 had never appeared in a game for Johns Hopkins prior to February 1.
Against the Patriot League
• This week's game against Loyola will be the 261st all-time for Johns Hopkins against a team currently in the Patriot League.
• Johns Hopkins is 196-63-1 (.756) all-time against current Patriot League members.
• 222 of the 260 games the Blue Jays have played against Patriot League members have come against Army (69), Loyola (60) and Navy (93).
Strength of Schedule
• The Blue Jays' 13 regular season opponents combined to post a 131-80 (.629) record in 2024 with JHU's eight non-conference opponents rolling up an 86-46 (.652) record.
• Using the this week's USILA Coaches Poll as a reference point, the Blue Jays will play nine games against teams ranked in the top 18 in the nation. The nine include Syracuse (2nd), Virginia (4th), Maryland (6th), Penn State (9th), North Carolina (11th), Georgetown (T14th), Denver (T14th), Michigan (17th), Towson (18th). • Through three games, Johns Hopkins is averaging 8.0 caused turnovers per game, a mark that is on par with what the Blue Jays have done over the last three seasons.
• Johns Hopkins collected eight caused turnovers in the season-opening win at Denver and added 10 in the 11-10 win at Towson and six against Georgetown.
• Johns Hopkins caused 132 turnovers in 16 games during the 2024 season, an average of 8.25 per game. The 8.25 CTs/game were the most in program history, while the 132 overall CTs rank second in program history (CTs became an official statistic in 2009).• The top three caused turnover totals in Johns Hopkins history have come in the last three years (122 in 2022 | 135 in 2023 | 132 in 2024) and the top four averages for caused turnovers per game have come in the last four years under the direction of current defensive coordinator Jamison Koesterer.

• Through three games, Johns Hopkins is allowing an average of just 8.67 goals per game and has held each of its three opponents to 10 goals or less.
• Dating back to last season, the Blue Jays have held 12 consecutive opponents to 11 goals or less and 10 of those 12 have been held to 10 or less.
