Blue Jays Grab Day One Lead at Centennial Championships

Adeniran, Li Grab Individuals Titles

LANCASTER, PA – The Johns Hopkins men's indoor track team accumulated 64 points to grab the day-one lead at the 2025 Centennial Conference Indoor Track Championships.  Ursinus (41 points), Dickinson (34), Haverford (31) and Gettysburg (28) round out the top five in the team scoring after day one.

The Blue Jays produced a pair of individual champions and had 11 top-seven finishes to account for their 64-point effort on Saturday.

Triple Jump
The Blue Jays earned one of their two individual titles in the triple jump as Oluwademilade Adeniran placed first with a mark of 14.25-meters.  Adeniran makes the jump to gold after taking silver in the event last season and he is Hopkins' sixth champion in the event since 2012.  Joining Adeniran in the top six in the final standings in the event were teammates Ethan Oluwole (5th / 13.75-meters) and Sebastian Tangelson (6th / 13.46-meters).

5,000-Meter Run
Johns Hopkins produced the champion and had four of the top five finishers in the 5,000-meter run to earn 25 points in the team standings.  Tommy Li cruised to first-place finish in 14:50.51 to win the event by just over five seconds.  This is the third consecutive year that Johns Hopkins has produced the champion in the 5,000 and Li was followed in the top five by teammates Nash Minor (3rd / 15:12.25), Rowan Cassidy (4th / 15:12.33) and Sean Enright (5th / 15:13.91).

Lim Third in Pole Vault
Peter Lim grabbed bronze in the pole vault with a jump of 4.40-meters.  This is the fourth consecutive year that Lim has placed in the top three in the event as he adds today's bronze with previous first, second and third-place finishes.  His mark today at 4.40-meters is his best ever at the Centennial Championships.

Two Relays Place in Top Three
Hopkins got a runner-up finish from its Distance Medley Relay team of Eli Merritt, Samson Dessalines, Peter Murray and Connor Oiler, which crossed in 10:15.12, while the 4x800 team of Aiden Deffner, Arjun Subramanian, Anirudh Krishnan and Evan Kelly clocked in at 7:56.69 to place third.

The Centennial Conference Championships will conclude on Sunday, March 2.  The Blue Jays are seeking their 12th consecutive Centennial title.
