GREENSBORO, NC – Junior
Avery Clapp grabbed a national runner-up finish in the 200 Back and the Johns Hopkins men's swim team finished in 14
th place at the NCAA Championships Saturday. The Blue Jays finished with 111 points through four days.
Freshman
Jack Cornish opened the final day of the championship with a 12
th-place finish in the 1650 Free. Clapp and junior
Bryce Lloyd then swam in the championship final of the 200 Back. Clapp nearly chased down the eventual champion, finishing just three-hundredths of a second from gold. Clapp broke his own school record in the process, touching in 1:44.18. Lloyd took eighth place with a finals swim of 1:48.17. His prelim swim of 1:46.57 was a career best.
Senior
Joe Castagno then finished in sixth place in the consolation final, 14
th overall, of the 200 Breast. He finished in 2:00.27 to earn his second All-America honor in the event.
Clapp finishes the championships with 18 career All-America honors, including six this season. Lloyd now counts five All-America honors in his career while Castagno has three. Cornish garnered his first career All-America honor.
