BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins men's track and field program opened the outdoor track and field season Saturday in Annapolis at the Navy Outdoor Invitational.
The Blue Jays scored a pair of second-place finishes in the 400m and the triple jump, with
Alex Colletti clocking a personal-best 48.77 – fourth fastest in school history, and
Oluwademilade Adeniran gliding to a 13.79m jump. Joining Colletti in the top 10 in the 400m was
Raymond Zhang (seventh | 54.64), with
Ethan Oluwole (fifth | 13.49m) and Maxie Lin (sixth | 12.86m) joining Adeniran in the top 10 in the triple jump.
Hopkins was scattered in the field for the 1500m collecting six of the top 10 spots in the event.
Aakash Iyer led the Jays with a third-place finish in a personal-best time of 4:04.96, with
Evan Kelly (fifth | 4:06.19) and
Nick Pham (ninth | 4:10.26) also recording personal-bests. Joining his fellow Jays in the top 10 was
Andrew Myers (seventh | 4:08.64),
Arjun Subramanian (eighth | 4:08.71) and
Fisayo Omonije (10
th | 4:10.75).
Continuing the excitement, the 4x100m relay team of Joshua Lee,
Spencer Ye,
Joshua Gregory and Colletti ran the eighth-fastest time in program history (42.80) en route to a fourth-place finish. The team of
Daniel Dobin,
Carter Chui,
Chance Simpson and Diego Cintron-DeLeon followed suit, collecting a sixth-place finish (44.44) in the relay.
In the field, Hopkins collected a trio of top 10 finishes in the long jump, led by Oluwole recording a 6.37m jump, giving the senior a fifth-place finish. Joining him in the top 10 is
Wech Ring, who recorded a personal-best 6.18m jump (eighth), and Maxie Lin (ninth | 6.00m).
The Blue Jays are back in action Friday, April 4, in the two-day Mason Spring Invitational hosted by George Mason in Fairfax, VA.
