BOSTON, MA / WINCHESTER, VA – The Johns Hopkins men's & women's track teams made one final push to qualify individuals and relay teams for the upcoming NCAA Division III Indoor Track Championships with entries at the Tufts (MA) National Qualifier and the South Region Qualifier at Shenandoah on Saturday. While there are no automatic qualifying times or standards for the championships, the Blue Jays hit several marks that should land them in contention for the NCAAs when the official list of qualifiers is announced by the end of the day on Sunday (March 9).

Tufts Qualifier Recap
Women's Distance Medley Relay (DMR) – In a loaded field that saw six teams hit marks that rank among the top 15 in the nation, the Blue Jay team of
Emma Kothari,
Lianne Saussy,
Annie Huang and
Phoebe White placed first as they crossed in 11:44.55. That currently ranks as the fourth-best time in the nation this season and should safely move the team to the NCAAs. The mark is the fifth-best in program history.
Â
Men's Distance Medley Relay (DMR) – Like the women, the men competed in a strong field that included six teams posting times that rank among the top 15 in the nation. Also like the women, the men's team of
Aiden Tomov,
Alex Colletti,
Fisayo Omonije and
Lucas Rackers left nothing to chance as they punched up the fourth-best time in the nation this season (9:51.95). The mark ranks as the second-best in program history.

Women's Mile – Senior
Harrinee Senthilkumar and junior

South Region Qualifier Recap
Women's Weight Throw – Junior
Erika Ezumba had six throws on Saturday to land a mark that would qualify her for the NCAA Championships and almost certainly would have to mark above 17-meters to have a chance. With one throw left – and still not quite there – she nailed it, landing her final toss at 17.33-meters to jump to 21
st and seemingly earn her spot in Rochester, New York - site of the NCAA Championships. She easily surpassed her previous career-best throw of 16.83-meters, which she hit last week at the Centennial Conference Championships.
Â
Women's Pole Vault – Freshman
Clarissa Newman entered Saturday's qualifier with a season-best mark of 3.65-meters in the pole vault and needed to be in the 3.75-meter area to have a chance to advance to the NCAAs. After clearing at 3.78-meters on her third attempt at that height, she bumped her season-best mark to 3.81-meters to break her own previous JHU freshman record and place herself well inside the top 20 in the nation at 17
th.
The official entry list for the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's & Women's Track Championships will be announced by the NCAA within the next 24 hours.
