MADISON, NJ – Junior
Josephine Chang led Johns Hopkins with a third-place finish in the Sabre at the 2025 NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional Championship Saturday. In all, the Blue Jays had three fencers place in the top-15 at the regional.
Chang's third-place finish is a career-best and the highest finish in the Sabre in program history. In addition, it is just the sixth top-10 finish at the regional championship, in any weapon, in team history. Chang finished the day with 12 wins and now counts 272 in her career. She also leads the Sabre squad with 74 wins this season.
Sophomore
Lauren Prieur also placed in the top-15 in the Sabre as she finished in 11
th with 11 wins. She boasts 66 wins on the season and already ranks 14
th in JHU history with 135 career wins. Sophomore
Adele Dai finished in 21
st place, while freshmen
Maddie Huang placed 26
th and
Maya Balakumaran took 28
th.
Junior
Rosy Cepero earned a third top-15 finish as she took 11
th in the Foil, a career-high. She earned six wins on the day and now has 92 for the season, fifth most in program history. Junior
Bethany Lee finished in a career-best 21
st and sophomore
Sophia Baleeiro finished in a tie for 40
th.
Senior
Ameera Ebrahim led the Epee squad with a 28
th-place finish, while sophomore
Mariela Abramson finished in 29
th. The pair lead the Epee squad with 50 wins each on the season. In addition, Ebrahim is now tied for 11
th in program history with 143 career wins. Sophomore
Anika Kale placed 31
st and senior
Katelyn McShine placed 41
st.
The 2025 NCAA Championship selections are scheduled to be announced on Tuesday, March 11.
