Five Blue Jays Named to USFCA All-America Teams

BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins women's fencing team had five Blue Jays named to the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) it was announced. Josephine Chang earned National Collegiate and Division III All-America honors. Rosy Cepero, Lauren Prieur, Bethany Lee and Adele Dai were named to the Division III All-America teams.
 
The USFCA recognizes National Collegiate All-Americans for outstanding performances at NCAA Championships. The top-12 finishers in each event, regardless of Division, are recognized based on their final placement at the competition. In addition, the USFCA recognizes the top Division III fencers in the country with Division III All-American awards. The recipients of these awards are determined by an evaluation of their regular season performance and postseason performance, including both NCAA Regionals and NCAA Championships.
 
Chang finished in ninth place at the NCAA Championships, the highest finish in any weapon by a Blue Jay, to earn National Collegiate Honorable Mention All-America Honors. She is the first in program history to earn National Collegiate All-America honors since 2001. In addition, Chang was named a Division III First Team All-American. She finished the season with an 87-41 record and ranks second in program history with 285 career Sabre wins.
 
Cepero and Prieur were also named Division III First Team All-Americans. Cepero led the Foil squad with 92 wins this season and placed fifth at the EWFC Championships and 11th at the NCAA Regional Championship. She is now 230-126 in her career and ranks second in program history in career Foil wins. Prieur finished the season with a 66-36 record and ranked second on the Sabre squad in wins. She took 11th place at the NCAA Regional and already ranks 14th in program history with 135 career wins.
 
Lee and Dai were named to the Division III Honorable Mention All-America team. Lee ranked second on the Foil squad with 64 wins this season. She finished in seventh place at the EWFC Championship and 21st at the NCAA Regional. Lee is 192-96 in her career and ranks 10th in program history in Foil wins. Dai finished the season with a 32-10 mark in the Sabre and went on to finish in 21st place at the NCAA Regional. She is 52-21 in her career with the Blue Jays.
