HAVERFORD, PA –
Josephine Chang and
Nina Markovsky led Johns Hopkins with top 15 finishes at the 2026 NCAA Mid-Atlantic/South Regional Championship Saturday. In all, four Blue Jays finished in the top 20 at the championship.
Chang finished in 13
th place in the Sabre, the highest finish by a Division III fencer. She went 3-6 on the day and now counts 353 career wins. She needs just 11 wins to tie Erin Chen's school record for wins.
Maddie Huang went 5-4 to finish in 23
rd place.
Lauren Prieur placed 25
th with a 5-6 record while
Maya Balakumaran took 33
rd with a 3-3 record.
Markovsky led the Foil squad with a 14
th place finish, the highest by a DIII fencer. It is also the best finish by a JHU freshman in the Foil at the NCAA regional. She finished the day with a 5-5 record and now has 75 wins on the season, the fourth most by a Blue Jay freshman in the Foil.
Julianna Wu also placed in the top 20, placing 18
th with a 3-7 record.
Bethany Lee took 21
st place with a 5-6 record and became just the third JHU Foilist with 250 career wins.
Rosy Cepero finished in 22
nd place with a 1-4 record.
Nicole Yu led the Hopkins Epeeists with a 16
th place finish with a 5-5 record. It was the highest finish by a DIII fencer and is the best finish by a JHU freshman since 2014. Yu now counts 75 wins on the season, third most by a freshman in the Epee in program history.
Anika Kale finished in 24
th place (5-6), while
Thansi Garikipati placed 32
nd (2-4) and
Mickey Zhang placed 40
th (1-5).
