BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins men's track and field team competed on Friday, sending a contingent to the River Hawk Multi and the Mid-Atlantic Track and Field JUCO Invite.
River Hawk Multi
Sebastian Tangelson earned a third-place finish in the decathlon, scoring the seventh-most points in program history with 6,002. The sophomore placed in the top five in four of the day's five events, including second in the discus (32.27m), fifth in the pole vault (3.60m) and fourth in the 110m hurdles (16.10). He capped his performance with a first-place finish in the 1500m, crossing the line in 4:44.41—more than six seconds ahead of the next closest competitor.
Peter Lim, despite finishing 15th overall, made his mark with a first-place finish in the pole vault (4.40m) and a second-place finish in the javelin with a 47.61m throw.
Mid-Atlantic Track & Field JUCO Invitational
The Blue Jays swept the top two spots in the hammer throw, with
Ryan Braga taking first place and setting a personal best with the third-farthest throw in school history (41.48m).
Leo Anderson followed closely behind in second with a 39.31m throw.
Hopkins also claimed the top two positions in the pole vault, as
Seth Wyzykowski finished first with a 3.96m mark and Aiden Rothstein took second with a 3.66m clearance.
The Blue Jays are back in action Saturday, April 11, for day one of the Duke Invitational and the Bucknell Invitational. Action in Durham, NC is scheduled to begin at 1:10 PM in the 400m, with action scheduled to begin in Lewisburg, PA at noon in the discus.
