BALTIMORE, MD – The Johns Hopkins football team placed three players on the 2025 D3football.com Preseason All-America Team it was recently announced. Senior defensive back Carson Bourdo and senior offensive lineman Michael Nwosu earned a spot on the first team, while sophomore place-kicker Brad Paxton grabbed a spot on the second team.
Bourdo earned First Team AP and Second Team D3football.com All-America honors a year ago, when he totaled 66 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss, seven pass breakups, four interceptions and one fumble recovery. His four interceptions led the team and he added First Team All-Centennial Conference and First Team D3football.com All-Region honors to his 2024 resume. Bourdo enters the 2025 season with 116 tackles, 12 pass breakups and five interceptions to his credit.
Nwosu is already one of the most decorated offensive linemen in school history. He has earned Fourth Team D3football.com All-American, First Team D3football.com All-Region and First Team All-Centennial Conference honors in each of the last two years. He was also a Second Team All-Centennial selection as a freshman, when he was named the league Rookie of the Year; Nwosu has started all 38 games in his career.
Paxton made an immediate impact in his first season at Homewood in 2024 as he earned First Team All-Centennial Conference honors and was named the CC's Rookie of the Year. He was 31-of-35 on extra points and hit 13-of-16 field goals while handling all kickoff and place-kicking duties. Paxton's 13 field goals last season were a Johns Hopkins single-season record for a freshman and he was the national leader in field goals among freshmen as well.
Johns Hopkins, which will open the 2025 season at Ithaca on September 6, has drawn preseason number three national rankings from the AFCA, D3football.com and Lindy's after posting a 12-2 record with a trip to the NCAA Semifinals a year ago.
