LANCASTER, PA – After posting a pair of shutouts on the road last week, the Johns Hopkins women's soccer team landed the Centennial Conference Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week for games played between September 22-28 it was announced today.
Â
Sophomore midfielder
Carolyn Johnson earned Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week honors, while senior defender
Ella Macko was selected as the CC Defensive Player of the Week. The selection of Johnson and Macko marks the first time this season that the Blue Jay women's soccer team has produced a Centennial Player of the Week.
Â
Johnson powered Johns Hopkins to those Centennial Conference road victories as she scored three goals in the two wins. She netted one, the Blue Jays' second goal, in a 4-0 win at McDaniel, and then posted the first multi-goal game of her career with both strikes in Johns Hopkins' 2-0 win at Haverford. She has now scored at least one goal in six of the last seven games and leads the team with eight goals on the year. Johnson is Johns Hopkins' first CC Offensive Player of the Week selection since November 3, 2024, when
Maria Romo-Nichols was honored.
Â
Macko led a Johns Hopkins defense that posted a pair of road shutouts and allowed just eight total shots in two league victories. She scored once (the game-winner) and helped the Blue Jays limit McDaniel to just two shots in a 4-0 victory, then kept a ball out of the goal (officially a team save) early in a 2-0 win at Haverford. The Blue Jays allowed just six shots in the two-goal win against the Fords. Macko is Johns Hopkins' first CC Defensive Player of the Week honoree since October 15, 2024, when
Annie Isphording was selected.
Â
Johns Hopkins will return to action on Wednesday, October 1 when the Blue Jays welcome Mary Washington Homewood Field (7 pm).
