NEW YORK, NY – The Johns Hopkins men's track and field team capped a strong weekend Saturday at the Dr. Sander Scorcher, hosted by Columbia University, posting several of the fastest marks in Division III this season while competing in a field loaded with Division I programs.
Emmanuel Leblond headlined the second day of competition, breaking a school record in the process.
Leblond wasted no time making his mark in his first meet of the indoor season. The senior rewrote the program record in the mile, clocking a personal-best 4:05.36. His time not only stands as the fastest in school history, but also ranks third in Division III this season. Leblond finished ninth overall in a deep and competitive field.
Brady Ott followed suit in the same event, turning in one of the top performances in program history. Ott crossed in 4:09.99, a personal-best that ranks sixth all-time at Johns Hopkins and seventh in the nation this season. He placed 21
st overall.
In the Mile Open, Hopkins added a pair of top-25 finishes from
Ani Krishnan and
Shray Chettiar. Krishnan placed 20
th in 4:21.45, while Chettiar was close behind in 22
nd at 4:21.56, a mark that sits among the top 100 times in Division III this season (94).
The 4x400m relay team of
Alex Colletti,
Spencer Ye,
Michael Long and
Josh Lee also delivered a strong showing, finishing sixth in 3:22.38—the sixth-fastest time in program history.
Colletti added to his day with an individual podium finish, taking third in the 200m Invite with a time of 21.98. In the 5,000m Invite,
Nash Minor posted a 14:55.35 to place 18
th.
In the field events,
Sebastian Tangelson led the way with a 22
nd-place finish in the long jump, recording a leap of 6.34m (20-9.75).
Johns Hopkins returns to action Saturday, January 30, for the two-day Patriot Games, hosted by George Mason University at the George Mason Field House.
