Hobot Named B1G Specialist of the Week

Sophomore Fueled JHU Wins Against Towson, Loyola

ROSEMONT, IL – Johns Hopkins sophomore Joe Hobot has been named the Big Ten Specialist of the Week it was announced today.  Hobot earns the award for the first time in his career after guiding the Blue Jays to wins against Towson (13-11) and Loyola (13-7) last week.  Since the league added men's lacrosse in 2015, this is the 20th time a Johns Hopkins player has earned Big Ten Specialist of the Week honors.
 
In the win against the Tigers, Hobot was 14-of-25 on faceoffs with eight ground balls, one goal and one assist.  The 14 faceoff wins, 25 attempts and eight ground balls are all career highs while the goal was the second of his career and the assist was his first.  Four days later, Hobot came back with a 12-of-20 showing on faceoffs and added three ground balls in the win against the Greyhounds.
 
Through three games, Hobot is 37-of-58 (.658) at the X with two goals, one assist and 15 ground balls to his credit.  He ranks 17th in the nation in faceoff winning percentage through games of February 16.
 
Johns Hopkins (3-0) will return to action on Friday, February 20 when the Blue Jays travel to North Carolina to take on the Tar Heels (3-0).  The game between the #14/#13 Blue Jays and #5/#3 Tar Heels will air live on the ACC Network.
